He went to Intro Motors at Zambezi Motor City to buy a 1988 Toyota truck for his father.

There he paid a R75000 deposit for the vehicle. He wanted it for his father who was going to start a small business. When he asked for it to be registered in his name the seller told him he was still "chasing after the registration documents".

He said the dealer wanted him to take delivery of the truck, but he refused, giving them a chance to get the original documents.

"I didn't want my father to pick up any problems with the truck," he said.

Two months later he decided to cancel the deal, but the seller told him he would have to pay a penalty of R20000 for breach of contract, said Bopape.

"After giving them another 21 days' grace they still couldn't produce the registration papers and wouldn't refund me," Bopape said.

He was told that his money had been paid to the owner of the vehicle and would have to wait until he refunded them.

An excited Bopape was refunded the full deposit a day after Consumer Line stepped in. He said he would now invest the money and get his father a better deal later in the year.
