The two Soweto soccer giants, Moroka Swallows and Orlando Pirates, intend to reignite their halcyon days when they meet in a Castle Premiership game at Royal Bafokeng Stadium tonight at 8pm.
They met at Ellis Park Stadium a fortnight ago and played to a goalless draw.
This time round both sides have vowed it will be a different ball game, with scintillating soccer that will entertain their hard-to-please supporters.
The two teams, who are 10 years apart age-wise, with Pirates being the "eldest", have been rivals since 1947 in the days of the Johannesburg Bantu Football Association.
Swallows PRO Sello "Crying Time" Maugane said his side was well prepared and had closed all loopholes.
He said Tebogo Monyai was the only casualty and would be replaced by the newly acquired Rudi Isaacs from SuperSport United.
"We have beefed up the entire team and it will not be easy for Pirates to penetrate our backline.
"We're aware Pirates are playing well lately and have been collecting points, but they are going to meet a difficult proposition in us."
Maugane said players such as Mame Niang, Songwe Chalwe and Evans Gwekerere are going to be a menace to the Bucs' defence, considering how they played against Benoni Premier United last weekend.
The Birds will bank on Lefa Tsutsulupa, Tsweu Mokoro and captain Goodman Mazibuko.
Pirates PRO Mickey "Mouse" Modisane said their back-to-back win over Black Leopards had brought confidence back to the team.
"Though we will be without Lebohang Mokoena, who is injured, Tonic Tshabalala, Jabu Mahlangu and Onyekachi Okonkwo, who are suspended, we have a pool of players to select from, such as Jorry Merahe, Benedict Vilakazi, Rudzani Ramudzuli, Bongani Cashibe, and the return of Lehlohonolo Seema could be an added incentive to the side."
