The owner of a security company, whose employee allegedly killed a colleague by dousing him with paraffin after fighting for leftover loot from an ATM blast, said he could only help the family of the deceased with funeral costs once he had been approached.
Sowetan yesterday made enquiries with Tinus Erasmus, owner of Counterpoint Security Services - a Tzaneen-based security company - to find out if he would help the family with funds for the burial of Moses Sibiya.
Sibiya, 36, died on Monday morning from third-degree burns, a day after he was admitted to the Kgapane Hospital outside Modjadjiskloof.
He and his yet-to-be identified colleague had allegedly agreed to share the money the robbers had left behind, after the thieves blew up a Standard Bank ATM in GaMaphalle village in Bolobedu early on Sunday. This after the four thieves had made off with an undisclosed amount of money, leaving a portion behind.
