The trial of alleged members of the Boeremag who are facing various criminal charges, including treason and murder, has been dragging on for too long with no end in sight.

It has already cost taxpayers millions of rands in legal costs.

The re-arrest of the two fugitives, Rudi Gouws and Herman van Rooyen, at a flat in Centurion at the weekend, should help speed up what has become one of the longest treason trials in this country.

Without being contemptuous we urge the state to urgently place the matter on the roll again and arrange tighter security to avoid another mysterious escape.

Taxpayers and victims are anxiously awaiting the verdict in this matter.
