The media is awash with stories about men raping kids, men shooting or hanging their own children, men killing their wives and old men keeping kids as sex slaves. When will this end?

The media is awash with stories about men raping kids, men shooting or hanging their own children, men killing their wives and old men keeping kids as sex slaves. When will this end?

People are tired of such news. This is sickening.

What is happening to our nation?

Those who fought for our freedom must be disappointed with the outcome. Children must be loved and protected, not abused.

Then there are white farmers who kill black people, saying they thought they were baboons or dogs.

In the most recent case, Marcel Nel got off lightly with a R10000 fine for killing a boy he "mistook" for a rabid dog.

The magistrate agreed with the killer farmer that the boy's clothing fitted the description of a dog.

So what is the message? Kill a black child and pay R10000 or go to jail for two-and-half years. Whoever said South Africa was free?

Then you have police officers in Pretoria beating a prostitute nearly to death. Whether prostitution is legal or not, no police officer has any right to assault anyone.

Sick people like these men who abuse women and children do not deserve to live.

As South Africans we must reinvent the spirit of ubuntu and the respect that comes with it.

The government must bring back the death penalty.
