An elderly man who allegedly chopped his wife to death after she refused to have sex with him was yesterday remanded in custody for a bail application on February 13.

An elderly man who allegedly chopped his wife to death after she refused to have sex with him was yesterday remanded in custody for a bail application on February 13.

Mbeko Maseko, 71, is accused of killing his 73-year-old wife after a drinking spree at the weekend.

Police said the elderly couple, from Wesselton near Ermelo, were drinking together when the husband asked to have sex with his wife, but she refused.

The angry husband allegedly picked up an axe and chopped his wife on her head. She died at the scene. - Sakhile Mokoena
