If you think you have what it takes to be a dance champion, then Channel O's Dance Africa is your show.

This competition has been established to provide talented dancers with a platform and to find the most original freestyle dancer on the continent.

Dance Africa kicks off with preliminary rounds in seven African cities. Auditions will be held in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Maputo, Nairobi, Lusaka and Lagos. The first audition will be on January 27 at The Rock in Soweto.

Two dancers from each city will compete in the finals in Johannesburg. Fourteen finalists will battle it out until only one remains to be crowned Africa's ultimate freestyle dancer.

The panel of judges is choreographer Angelo Collins and local musicians and DJs. The competition is open only to amateurs.

Channel O's general manager, Yolisa Phahle, explained: "The winner will receive an all-expenses-paid two weeks of training at the Dance Umbrella in Johannesburg.

"The winner will also feature in one of Chomee's videos and will have a chance to perform at the this year's Channel O African Music Video Awards."

"This show will see a variety of outstanding dancers from Africa trying to impress the judges.

"It will be hosted by Channel O's hottie, Lungile Radu, and by Angelo Collins."
