Ray Jennings, coach of the South African under-18 cricket squad, believes the team will have enough time to prepare for the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, next year.

He was speaking after the announcement of the 26-member squad in Port Elizabeth at the weekend.

"I am happy that the team was selected a year ahead of the World Cup. This will definitely afford us enough time to thoroughly prepare the youngsters for the important event,'' said an excited Jennings.

Max Jordaan, Cricket South Africa's senior cricket manager, confirmed that the under-18 squad will take part in the World Cup next year.

Jordaan said: "We've chosen a squad of 26 that will attend three camps during the 2007 school holidays.

"The squad will tour Malaysia in June and July ahead of next year's tournament.''
