Education MEC Aaron Motsoaledi paid a surprise visit to schools in Limpopo that earned a zero percent matric pass rate.

One of the schools visited on Friday was Mokgalaka-Molemole High School in the Waterberg. The principal allegedly refused to readmit some pupils who failed.

Martha Maredi reportedly said the children, aged 21 and 22, were too old to repeat grade 12 and that they were unruly and ill-disciplined.

Department spokesman Ndo Mangala said: "We advised that she follows correct disciplinary measures and not refuse pupils readmission."
