During his home-coming celebrations at the weekend, Yengeni allegedly stabbed a bull with a spear before it was slaughtered.
SPCA spokesman Andries Venter said: "If these allegations are true, then this is definitely a criminal offence under the Animal Protection Act.
"For this kind of an offence a court could sentence a guilty person to up to 12 months imprisonment," he said.
The offence carried a maximum fine of R200000.
Yengeni was convicted of fraud in 2004. He was released last week after serving four months of his four-year sentence. The bull and two sheep were slaughtered on Friday as part of a " cleansing ceremony". - Sapa
