The IBF has pitted Andre Thysse, 37, the former SA and Commonwealth super middleweight champion, with Paul Briggs for the vacant IBF Australasian light heavyweight title.

Their fight will take place in Australia on February 4. In his last fight in May last year Thysse was outpointed by Adrian Diaconu for the WBC International light heavyweight title in Canada.

Before that he was outpointed by Lucian Bute for the WBC Continental Americas super middleweight title in Canada in March.

That was preceded by a loss to Juergen Braehmer for the vacant WBC International super middleweight title in Germany in February.

Briggs, 31, is a former IBF Pan Pacific cruiserweight champion. He has 25 victories against three defeats.

Thysse's stablemates, Rupert van Aswegen and Kaizer Mabuza, will appear in undercards fighting for IBF Australasian middle and welterweight titles.

Van Aswegan, who has not fought since he was stopped in six rounds by Stephen Nzuemba last March, will challenge Sakia Bika.

Mabuza will collide with Robert Medely.

The trio leave for Australia on Friday. They will be ushered to war by their mentor, Harold Volbrecht.
