Sakala could haunt Dynamos

The expulsion of Jacob "Cellular" Sakala by Dynamos three weeks ago could haunt them when they engage City Pillars in a Mvela Golden League (MGL) fixture at NkowaNkowa Stadium on Sunday.

This Limpopo derby, which has all the hallmarks of a gripping affair, kicks off at 3.45pm.

Sakala, who was fired by Dynamos after a series of indifferent results, has been doing a splendid job at Mathathai in the second round of the MGL.

His side opened the new year with an incredible 5-0 win over Western Province United at home and went on to overwhelm Fidentia Rangers 2-0 in Cape Town last Sunday.

Dynamos, on the other hand, are yet to win in the second round after a 0-1 loss to Bay United and a 1-1 draw with PJ Stars.

Their first round tie ended in a 2-all stalemate in Giyani in a match that saw Dynamos stage an astounding second-half recovery after Pillars had led 2-0 at the interval.

The Giyani club have also signed Mpho Mabitle from Pillars, an attacking left-footed midfielder who is available to face his former employers on Sunday.

July Malabela, Dynamos' boss, insisted yesterday that they do not regret firing Sakala.

He said they were positive of a win in NkowaNkowa.

Pillars' director Mario Morfou was equally confident yesterday that his charges will have the beating of the former Castle Premiership campaigners.

James Mothibi has a crucial role to play for Pillars in attack.
