Benji Kholane asks why dogs howl at the moon?

It seems that dogs, along with their wild relative the wolf, do not howl at the moon. They may appear to do so, but they are more likely howling to communicate with each other. Dogs howl to signal the location where they are hunting or, if they are home alone, to signal to their family members. Howling is also very contagious, so one dog's howl may set off all the dogs in the neighbourhood. When there is a full moon, we may be more aware of the noise they make because it is lighter and the greater light may also make dogs more active.
