Kwaito sensation 18-year- old Msawawa has failed grade 11.
This is contrary to what he had earlier told Sowetan. Siboniso Sicelo Dlamini, aka Msawawa, said he passed his grade 11 with flying colours, and was going to do the same in grade 12 this year.
But he later confessed that he had lied because he did not want to "disappoint his parents and fans".
The truth is he had been absent from school for 57 days and has not fetched his school report.
The kwaito star was a pupil at Jules High School in Malvern, east of Johannesburg.
A teacher at the school said: "He has not lived up to expectations. He failed to make progress."
Msawawa good on stage, but not in the classroom
