A group of Limpopo parents are up in arms over school report cards found dumped in a rubbish bin at a school in Malamulele, in Limpopo, last week.

Angry parents at Hlalukweni High School alleged their children had received reports showing they failed last year's examinations, but the discarded reports showed they had passed.

The irate parents were yesterday invited by the school's principal, Fickson Nghala, to discuss the matter. The invitation followed a meeting with the school's governing body chairman, James Chauke.

The 18 reports were found by a parent who had gone to register his grade 8 child last week. That is when it was discovered that the children had actually passed.

Chauke confirmed the reports showed pupils had passed.

The dumped reports were then taken to the local headman.

Provincial Education Department spokesman Ndo Mangala said the department would investigate the allegations because it took the matter very seriously.
