Not long ago Fiat Auto South Africa introduced the Strada to its lineup.

Now, Fiat has extended the Strada family by introducing the Strada X-Space.

This latest Strada was launched in Gauteng last week.

It consists of two models: the base model X-Space and the top-of- the-range X-Space Adventure.

The X-Space is Fiat's three-quarter-ton bakkie.

Boasting the same styling elements as its standard-wheelbase cousin, the newcomer blends the typical features of a bakkie with the unmistakable lines of a car.

Access to the loading area is simplified by the low ground clearance of the platform, which is 605mm, and by the tailgate, which opens out to form a flat surface.

The new model has side-impact bars, a reinforced body with a crumple zone and a rigid-structure cockpit with a fire prevention system.

A driver's airbag is standard on the Adventure model.

This 1,4litre petrol engine produces 60kW of power at 5500rpm and 20Nm of torque at 2250rpm.

The features on the base model are very similar to the standard-cab EL variant.

This includes power steering, a rev counter, full wheel trims and stylish longitudinal roof-top bars.

The Adventure has a more impressive spec sheet and more aggressive styling, underlined by the body-coloured front bumpers.

This model has twin driving-foglights, additional full-beam headlights and running boards.

It also features 14-inch alloy wheels, central locking, air conditioning, electric windows, a stereo system, upgraded cloth upholstery and a sportier instrument nacelle.

Fiat Auto South Africa offers Fiat owners a 24-month manufacturer's warranty, unlimited mileage and an additional 12-month dealer-extended warranty, or 100000km.

Paintwork is guaranteed for three years and rust anti-perforation for five years.

Pricing:

Strada X-Space - R91900

Strada X-Space Adventure - R126900
