Five schoolgirls who allegedly broke into their school and stole books have appeared in court on charges of theft.

The teenagers were not asked to plead in the Nkomazi magistrates' court in Mpumalanga and the case was postponed to February 9 for further investigation.

They were released without bail.

Constable Mzwandile Nyambi said the girls broke into the school's storeroom on Monday evening and stole boxes containing exercise books. - Sakhile Mokoena
