The University of KwaZulu-Natal Council will meet this week to act on the findings of an external tribunal into accusations of sexual harassment against key figures at the university.

Yesterday acting council chairman Mac Mia confirmed that he had received the report from the Magid Tribunal, but he would not comment on the details leaked to weekend newspapers.

"I cannot comment on the findings. Council is due to meet this week to study the report and take decisions on implementing its recommendations. We will make a statement once council has met."

The tribunal, chaired by retired judge Alan Magid, investigated allegations of sexual harassment, gender discrimination and victimisation levelled against vice-chancellor Malegapuru Makgoba and council chairman Vincent Maphai by senior academic Pumela Msweli-Mbanga. - Mary Papayya
