The staunchest ally of South Africa's goal-conscious youth, Sowetan Education - Power Your Future, resumes on January 31 with a bumper 12 pages of information, education and entertainment.

It is aimed at go-getting youths between 17 and 24 and is a youth development project of the popular Learning Channel. It provides useful information about education, career opportunities and life skills.

The handy guide is presented as an insert in Sowetan on Wednesdays, and tutorials are screened by SABC1 on weekdays and on Saturday mornings. The tutorials are reproduced in the supplement.

Power Your Future is a powerful learning and teaching resource: youngsters without a school to attend are known to have passed grade 12 using it.

There are several Power Your Future features that are likely to enrich young lives.

l A "role model" column, featuring the life and career experiences of young professionals;

l A "youth speak" feature, reflecting the voices and views of youngsters; and

l A career-advice column with contributions by career guidance and counselling practitioners.

Copies of Sowetan that carry Sowetan Education - Power Your Future, and related teacher and learner-support materials are also distributed to schools in Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, Free State, North West and KwaZulu-Natal.
