Two construction company owners and an employee appeared briefly in the Vanderbijlpark magistrates' court for allegedly poisoning two other employees.
Johannes Jacobus Killian, 37, Andries Albertus de Villiers, 42, and Amos Mokoena, 44, allegedly poisoned Jacob Thebe, 23, Zacharia Ratshoeu, 18, and George Koena, age not given, on September 22 in Vanderbijlpark.
Koena narrowly escaped death. The killings were allegedly triggered when Thebe, Ratshoeu and Koena demanded their salaries.
Instead of being paid, they were given poisoned drinks to shut them up.
After they lost consciousness, their bodies were dumped in the open veld in Bonanne, outside Vanderbijlpark.
Vaal Rand police spokesman, Captain Veli Mcera said Ratsheou and Thebe had bruises on their necks and faces, but no serious injuries.
Mcera said there had been foam in Ratshoeu and Thebe's mouths and that a deadly poisonous substance had been used to kill them.
All three accused are on R4000 bail each.
Their case was postponed because the court is awaiting a toxicology report to determine what substance was used to kill the two men.
The three accused are expected to appear in court again on March 14.
