The Lions have acquired the services of Springbok loose forwards Solly Tyibilika and Jacque Cronje to reinforce the squad ahead of the competitive Super 14 campaign.

Mac Hendricks, team manager, said Tyibilika was signed from the Sharks and Cronje from Bulls for the new season.

Tyibilika is a highly rated flanker with a massive work rate and has a knack of scoring, while Cronje is skilful and powerful.

The Lions have also signed Wille Werpenaar from Griquas and Stormers' wing Jongi Nokwe on loan for the duration of the Super 14 programme.

Said Hendricks: "We are very excited to get the services of the experienced players and hope their presence will add value to the team.''

The Lions will play two warm-up games this weekend. On Friday they tackle the Pumas in Secunda at 7pm and they play the Leopards in Potchefstroom at 6pm on Saturday.
