The ANC in Limpopo yesterday ordered that celebrations marking the party's 95th anniversary be postponed to give the royal family and the people of Sekhukhune time to mourn the death of their king, Rhyne Thulare Sekhukhune III.

The ANC celebrations were scheduled to be held at the Monsterlus Stadium in Groblersdal in Sekhukhune on January 14.

Cassel Mathale, ANC provincial secretary, yesterday said the ANC joined the royal family and the Sekhukhune people in mourning the death of the king.

Sekhukhune III, who had suffered from diabetes, died on December 27.

The burial will take place on February 11.

Mathale said a communique had been issued that the five districts of Limpopo should each organise their own regional activities to mark the party's anniversary. - Selby Makgotho
