DAR ES SALAAM - A Finnish tourist was killed and 10 other people injured when a light aircraft in which they were travelling crashed while landing at an airstrip in southern Tanzania.

Tourism Minister Jumanne Maghembe yesterday said the charter plane, whose passengers included tourists from the UK, had crashed into trees as it landed at the airstrip in Selous Game Reserve late on Friday.

Maghembe said the pilot and the facility's manager had escaped with minor injuries.

He said inspectors from the country's Civil Aviation Authority had been sent to the scene to probe the cause of the crash. - Sapa-AFP
