After consultations with all interested parties in Limpopo regarding the burial of Ryan Thulare Sekhukhune III, the royal family has decided to postpone his funeral.

The funeral was scheduled to take place on January 14 but will now take place on February 11.

Before he died, Sekhukhune III was in a dispute with his half-brother, Kenneth Kgagudi.

The dispute was over which one of them should be officially recognised as the paramount chief of the Bapedi clan.

According to a spokesman for the royal family, Dimo Morwamoche, the change of date was unfortunate, but necessary.

"The decision was taken in consultation with all the affected parties," said Morwamoche.

lSekhukhune III died at Montana Hospital in Pretoria last week, two weeks after being admitted after suddenly falling ill. His death came a day after he had celebrated his 60th birthday.
