Manenzhe to dazzle Team of Choice

BidVest Wits will parade new recruit Phumudzo Manenzhe in their Castle Premiership match against Maritzburg United at Milpark Stadium on Saturday.

BidVest Wits will parade new recruit Phumudzo Manenzhe in their Castle Premiership match against Maritzburg United at Milpark Stadium on Saturday.

The former South African junior international striker joined the expensively-assembled Clever Boys last week from Orlando Pirates.

"Phumudzo has already settled down at training and will be available for selection on Saturday," said George Mogotsi, Wits' manager.

"It will be a tough game against Maritzburg, players at that club are trying to impress new coach, Steve Komphela.

"There is no pressure at Wits to win the league, our plan is to take each game as it comes. The most important thing is to get the points.

"We have everybody available with the exception of Rene Richards and Nhlanhla Kubeka, who are still nursing injuries."

On the other hand, The Team of Choice's publicist, Senzo Msimang, said they were looking forward to start the new year on a high note.

"We've made changes to our technical staff with Steve and David Vilakazi on board, the duo started the job on Tuesday and it's all systems go.

"It's common knowledge that the game against Wits will be a hard one, they have assembled some pretty good players and have also been doing well.

"But we will give it our best shot, hopefully we will return to KwaZulu-Natal with a positive result. It has been a long time since we won."

United ended 2006 disastrously when they were hammered 6-1 by Kaizer Chiefs, which resulted in the departure of coach Kosta Papic.

Wits, on the other hand, will also be looking to redeem themselves after suffering a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Benoni Premier United. Kickoff is at 3.45pm.
