Police in Thulamahashe, Limpopo, are struggling to identify a woman crushed to death by a train on Tuesday afternoon.

Police spokesman Moatshe Ngoepe said the train driver saw the woman sitting on the tracks between Mambumbu and Buffelshoek and sounded his siren but she did not move.

Her body is at the police mortuary.

l A 25-year-old man who allegedly raped a 76-year-old woman on New Year' Eve in Mpumalanga was arrested on Tuesday.

The man, from New Forest village in Bushbuckridge, will appear in the Mhala magistrates' court on charges of rape, house breaking and theft.
