Arrows aim to upstage high-riding Tycoons

Lamontville Golden Arrows intend intensifying their campaign to drift away from the relegation zone by upstaging high-riding Silver Stars.

The two sides meet in what is expected to be an exciting Castle Premiership match at Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday at 3.45pm.

The Tycoons are topping the log with 25 points from 13 matches, while Arrows are 15th with a mere 12 points from 14 outings.

After a poor start to the season, Abafana Bes'thende seemed to have got their act together just before the festive season recess.

This after they grabbed seven points from a 2-1 win over Maritzburg United, 1-0 over Jomo Cosmos and from a 0-0 draw with Orlando Pirates.

"There is no turning back, we are marching on to finish the season on a more respectable position," said Zwelethu Mzolo, Arrows' publicist.

"The boys are all back at training and the technical staff are getting them back into shape. We are planning for a tough game.

"Stars have been doing well this season but they should not expect favours, we're playing at home and cannot afford to drop even a single point."

Thamaga Mokgophi, Stars' general manager, said they were planning to start the new year with a win to consolidate their top spot.

"Arrows have been doing well in the past four games both at home and away, so it will be suicidal for us to expect an easy match.

"Our plan is to take each game as it comes, we are still adamant that we will do well in the league too."

Arrows will rely on the likes of Papi Zothwane, Alton Meiring and Vusi Dlamini to steer the KwaZulu-Natal side to victory.

With players such as Simba Marumo, Stanley Kgatla and Koketso Mmotong doing so well, Arrows' coach Khabo Zondo must be having nightmares.
