NEW DELHI - Five of the 17 bodies believed to be those of the victims of serial killers have been identified, police said yesterday.

Superintendent Soumitra Yadav said the dismembered bodies were found last week in the back yard of a house in a posh township east of New Delhi.

The owner of the house, Mohinder Singh Pandher, and his domestic worker, Surender Kohli, have been arrested and charged with kidnapping, rape and murder.

Yadav said Kohli confessed to killing 10 children. He said the police found skulls and bones when they dug up drains in the house.

Local residents said about 38 people, mostly children of servants and street vendors, have disappeared in the area. They accused the police of ignoring their complaints because they are poor. - Sapa-AP
