Boy, 11, saved from drowning

An 11-year-old boy almost drowned yesterday after he was left unattended in a swimming pool in Florida, Johannesburg emergency services said.

An 11-year-old boy almost drowned yesterday after he was left unattended in a swimming pool in Florida, Johannesburg emergency services said.

Spokesman Malcolm Midgley said the boy was pulled out of the water by a member of the public or a resident at the residential complex where the incident took place.

The boy was treated by paramedics on the scene and taken to hospital.

It was not known how long the boy had been in the water or why he was alone.

l The body of a man was found with three bullet wounds in the head yesterday near Honeydew.

Inspector Solomon Sibiya, of the Johannesburg police, said the man, believed to be in his 20s, was found in a field in the Zamspruit informal settlement near Honeydew yesterday.

Live ammunition and three cartridges were found close to the body, he said. - Sapa
