Durban trio Shana is making it onto the international scene.
They have struck a deal with internationally-acclaimed DJ and house music producer Franck Roger to remix their hit song Ungiphuli inhliziyo from their latest albumIyo Londaba.
The celebrated DJ was in South Africa in September to launch his latest CD, and was blown away by the song.
Ungiphuli inhliziyo, which means "You break my heart" in English, was released in Europe last month and is already enjoying fair airplay on many radio stations and at many nightclubs abroad.
Shana is made up of Thandukwazi "Demor" Skhosana, Mnqobi "Shota" Mdabe, and Nkosinathi "Black Coffee" Maphumulo.
Shana were nominated in the best dance category at this year's Metro FM Music Awards but were beaten by DJ Siyanda, who also hails from Durban.
Speaking to Sowetan yesterday, Skhosana, who is a co-founder of the group, said: "We were blown away by the offer because Roger is an icon of house music and has been in the game for a long time.
"It also shows that he has confidence in our music here in South Africa.
"The move will open doors for us abroad because it has been our dream to venture abroad," he said.
"We are happy to have our music on the shelves in Europe."
The remix version of Ungiphuli inhliziyo will be available in South Africa early next year.
Iyo Londaba is a 12-track album which was released in September and is doing well on the market.
