Police are still searching for the alleged "main culprit" behind the kidnapping of Sisanda Ngcawuzele, the daughter of a Gugulethu restaurant owner.
Police spokesman Captain Billy Jones told Sowetan yesterday that police were searching for Mzwamadolo Tyuluba, who also goes by the name "Matola".
The police have appealed to the public to track down Tyuluba after a warrant of arrest was issued for him more than a week ago.
The police do not know how old he is or where he lives.
"Yes, the investigating officer has indicated to us that he is the [main culprit]," Jones said when asked about the suspect who is thought to be armed and might be a threat to Ngcawuzele's life.
Ngcawuzele, 20, is the daughter of Mzoli Ngcawuzele, the owner of the restaurant, Mzoli's Place, in Gugulethu. She was found bound to a chair and gagged at a Parklands flat, 15 minutes from Gugulethu, three days after she went missing.
She had not eaten anything and was dehydrated. The kidnappers had asked Mzoli for R300 000 a day after she disappeared.
Two of the four initial suspects arrested in connection with the kidnapping have spent Christmas behind bars.
Wynberg magistrate Hafeeza Mohamed ruled that the two suspects, Luther Kwenana, 27, and Nandipha Mshudulu, 23, must remain at Goodwood Prison until January 16.
They face charges of kidnapping, extortion and aggravated robbery.
Pamela Mntushe, 22, was granted bail of R1000, while the fourth suspect, Kenneth Mtali, 26, had charges withdrawn against him.
Mzoli told the media after his daughter was found that he had served two women at his restaurant shortly before the kidnapping.
Ngcawuzele is a student at Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
