A farmer appeared in the Thabazimbi magistrates' court charged with killing an 11-year-old boy.

Marcel Nel, 39, allegedly shot and killed Sello Pele on June 29 and claimed he had mistaken him for a dog that had been attacking his impala.

He is out on bail of R10 000 pending the finalisation of his trial, which has been marked by angry protests.
