Bloemfontein Celtic have lost their No 1 supporter Pule "Bishop" Motsielo, 37, who died after a short illness at his home in Silver City in Bloemfontein, on Wednesday afternoon.

Motsielo has been a Celtic supporter most of his life. He will be remembered for carrying a Bible to the stadium to pray and sing for Phunya Sele Sele to overcome their opponents.

Motsielo was also a good singer and was a member of Siwelele sa Masokolara, Celtic supporters, who recorded the club's CD that was released last month.

"We have lost a man who has been through thick and thin with Bloemfontein Celtic and everyone at the team is still trying to come to terms with his death," said Sello Nduna, Celtic spokesman, yesterday.

"Bishop was our inspiration and was always there for Celtic wherever we played. He would rather skip his shift at the Protea Hotel, where he was a bartender, to attend our matches.

"His death came as a shock because he never showed any signs of illness. He always added spark at the stadium with his unique attire and his trademark Bible. His house was decorated with our colours [green and white] and there is also a big logo of the club outside his house."

Nduna said Motsielo will be buried in Bloemfontein on December 31.
