Prostitutes killed: inquests

A British coroner's investigation into the death of four prostitutes began yesterday as police continued to question two suspects in connection with the deaths.

A British coroner's investigation into the death of four prostitutes began yesterday as police continued to question two suspects in connection with the deaths.

Inquests were opened into the deaths of Tania Nicol, Anneli Alderton, Paula Clennell and Annette Nicholls. An inquest into the death of a fifth victim, Gemma Adams, had already been opened last week.

All five women had been working as prostitutes, and their naked bodies were found in rural areas around the town of Ipswich in southern England earlier this month.

Police have continued to question a 37-year-old man who was arrested on Monday in a village near Ipswich, and a 48-year-old man living in the town's red-light district who was taken into custody on Tuesday. - Sapa-AP
