Madlala-Routledge is very dangerous

Talk about a woman as the next president has disappeared into thin air. Is it a case of us not being ready for a female president, or is it because of the succession battle in the ANC?

If women want to govern, they must get up and campaign themselves because men will never do it for them.

Deputy Health Minister Nozizwe Madlala-Routledge has become the darling of the media and the opposition. She is described as outspoken and courageous and to have offered leadership in the fight against Aids.

She has rubbished Manto Tshabalala-Msimang's beetroot and garlic theory and called for clarity on the issue of HIV-Aids. She also wants President Thabo Mbeki and Tshabalala-Msimang to have an Aids test in public. What a cheek.

Why did Madlala-Routledge wait for the health minister to get sick before she spoke her mind? Why did she challenge Mbeki and Tshabalala-Msimang through the media? Isn't that cowardice? She should have expressed her unhappiness within the government.

The deputy health minister is undisciplined, controversial and a populist who will do anything to get attention. Mbeki should fire her for bringing the government into disrepute.
