Denmark might cut aid to Tanzania

NAIROBI - Denmark will cut $3,16 million (R22,2 million) in aid to Tanzania over the slow pace of anti-graft reform in the East African country, the Danish ambassador said yesterday.

NAIROBI - Denmark will cut $3,16 million (R22,2 million) in aid to Tanzania over the slow pace of anti-graft reform in the East African country, the Danish ambassador said yesterday.

Denmark had tied a fifth of its $15,8 million aid budget for next year to 2008 to an anti-corruption bill that was due to be handed to parliament last month, but was delayed.

"From my perspective, it is a contract which has been broken," said ambassador Carsten Pedersen. - Reuters
