The African Christian Democratic Party extends to all South Africans our heartfelt wishes for a blessed Christmas and a New Year filled with peace, prosperity and renewed faith in God's wonderful plan for the continent.

Let us celebrate the fact that God Almighty has been with us every step of the way throughout this turbulent year, and that He will never leave or forsake us, not now and not in the future.

We convey our gratitude and appreciation to all those who steadfastly supported us.

For many people Christmas is the busiest time of the year - shopping, preparing meals, travelling to meet relatives or welcoming them into our homes. I would like to add one more item to that list. Prayers of thanksgiving.

Christmas is about remembering the birth of Christ and thanking God for sending His only son into this world. It is an opportunity to take time off from the commercial and other distractions of the season and to focus on God by setting aside time for prayer and to think about His love, His provision and His grace.

Christmas is a special time to dedicate ourselves to helping those in need, giving hope to those in despair, and to spreading peace throughout the Earth.

This Christmas may we give thanks for the blessings God has granted to our nation and in each of our lives.

May the joy of the holidays renew our commitment to work together for a future of peace, opportunity and hope.
