Mvela Golden League side Witbank Spurs, who are operating without a financial sponsor, want to use the Absa Cup to boost their bank balance.

Spurs take on Bay United at Wolfsons Stadium in Kwa-Zakhele, Port Elizabeth, tomorrow at 3pm in the preliminary knockout round.

Thabo Moroape, Spurs' spokesman, said: "We want to reach the quarterfinals and advancing beyond that stage will be a bonus for us. This will help us to boost our coffers.

"But we will not only focus on the cup competition; we also want to be part of the Platinum playoffs in the league."

Spurs goalkeeper William Slindile is a doubtful starter after he dislocated his shoulder, as is striker Abel Mahlangu.
