Construction of the R4billion De Hoop dam in Sekhukhune, Limpopo, will begin early next year where it is hoped that more than threemillion people in the province will benefit from the giant water supply.

More than 500 houses will also be constructed for employees building the dam in the area of Tubatse in Burgersfort. These will be sold on completion of the project.

Samson Makunyane, of the Sekhukhune district municipality, yesterday said the project will be completed in five years. It is a project for both mining houses in the area and the millions of the people of Sekhukhune who have been without water for years. - Selby Makgotho
