Alliance partners have betrayed Mbeki

I find it very strange that Cosatu, the SACP, the Young Communist League and the ANC Youth League are so selective in supporting ANC leaders.

I find it very strange that Cosatu, the SACP, the Young Communist League and the ANC Youth League are so selective in supporting ANC leaders.

It is amusing that they do this in the name of defending the party's political image and democracy. They give the impression that they want to protect the masses from business.

The more they support Jacob Zuma at the expense of their leader, Thabo Mbeki, the more they invite doubts about their credibility. These organisations forget that the ANC under Mbeki has more support than ever before.

All the provinces belong to the ruling party and this is an indication of how effective the ANC is.

South Africa is about to take up a non-permanent seat in the UN Security Council because of its good foreign policy.

The president has received very little support from power-hungry activists like Zwelinzima Vavi and Fikile Mbalula.

Instead, they support Zuma, a man who has had to apologise twice to the public for matters that go against not only the spirit of the constitution but are contrary to the values of the ANC.

Zuma has failed to show true leadership during times of crises. The deputy president of the ANC depends on people who have loud voices to keep him in political power.

I feel bad for those who support the dream of a Zuma presidency because that is not what South Africa needs.
