The commercial precinct in Rosebank, Johannesburg, is set for a major boost. Construction of a R623 million mixed-use development comprising retail space, a 160-room hotel, a four-level basement parking garage and loft offices, is set to begin early next year.

Five buildings owned by Old Mutual are being demolished for the development, which will be situated on Tyrwhitt and Cradock Avenue and is bordered by the Hyatt Hotel, The Firs and The Zone shopping centres.

"The development is part of a phased precinct strategy by Old Mutual Property Group," said Brent Wiltshire, business development executive of the group.

"It will also take advantage of having a Gautrain station as part of the offering." - I-Net Bridge
