Residents of KaNyamazane, outside Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, said they are fed up with the conditions of roads caused by water every time it rains.

The residents said every time it rains, mobility becomes a nightmare for them because the roads in section four of the township become inaccessible and they can only manoeuvre with difficulty.

"We are fed up with these inferior conditions, while we pay for services every month," said Bernard Nkosi.

They said they discussed the problem with the local Mbombela municipality last year but nothing had been done.

"They promised to lay a pavement on affected areas, but to date nothing has been done," said Nkosi.

Sam Magagula, who walks on crutches, said: "Though I use sticks to walk, motorists often drop me off a long way from my house after it has rained because of inaccessible roads."

Municipal spokesman Vusi Sibiya could not be reached for comment yesterday.
