Flying the apartheid South African flag amounts to hate speech. We would like to know exactly what precipitates that kind of behaviour.
Does it mean people who are poised to maintain apartheid symbols agree with the past gross human rights abuses? Or are they in an underground struggle to bring back "the good old days"?
Personally, I think this kind of behaviour is the consequence of the compromises made during the negotiations for democracy. The compromises resulted in allowing symbols such as the Springbok and Die Stem to be retained. This set a good apartheid atmosphere and the only missing link is the old flag, which has made an emphatic re-entry.
Apart from a few black faces in the team, Springbok games salvage some good apartheid memories. For those hours of the match, racists cherish the memories of white privileges.
I am interested in seeing what action the government will take in the wake of such an insult. I do not believe we need to enact new laws to deal with this. If the current laws are properly applied these racists can easily be prosecuted.
