Mothlanthe Attorneys debited R900 from her salary for an account she had managed well.
But her nightmare is over.
Mothlanthe attorneys have agreed to cancel the garnishee order after Consumer Line's intervention.
Mnyuku bought two computers from Electric Express last year and paid her monthly instalment without fail but her account was referred to the attorneys for debt collection, she said.
"Mothlanthe attorneys did not call me to make any arrangement. They just served my employer with a wage attachment order to debit my salary," she complained.
They demanded R7278 but her account was not in arrears, she said.
Mnyuku said it was only in December last year that she could not pay her account, but she made up for it in January this year.
She contacted the store and was told they had legally obtained a court order against her and there was nothing she could do about it.
Bill Chalmers of Electric Express said he could not see why her account would have been handed over to an attorney.
"In general her account was handled in an acceptable manner, except in July, when the branch asked the debt collector to remind her to pay."
Chalmers said the garnishee order had been withdrawn and Mnyuku will be refunded the money that was deducted from her salary.
