A senior North West education official predicted this week that there was "going to be blood on the floor". And indeed there is.

Seven people - four teachers and three senior district managers in the Department of Education at Ganyesa - have been temporarily suspended from their duties.

This follows shocking results in the matriculation examinations at Kgononyane High School in the district of Ganyesa in North West.

Only one of the school's pupils, of a total of 650 from grades 7 to 11, got through matric with a pass.

An inquiry is to begin at the school today. Those due to attend the meeting include the local chief. All residents of the area have been invited to voice their views.
