The battle over the release of documents from the Mauritian high court in the Jacob Zuma corruption case will be fought in court next year.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), and lawyers for Zuma and the French arms company Thint, will fight it out in the Pietermaritzburg high court on March 22 and March 23.
The NPA yesterday asked the Durban high court to ask the Mauritian attorney-general for the documents in terms of the International Cooperation in Criminal Matters Act.
But lawyers representing Zuma and Thint told the judge that they would oppose the application.
Judge Phillip Levinsohn ruled that Zuma and Thint have until February 9 to file papers opposing the application. The state has until March 2 to respond.
The documents are believed to include the diary for 2000 of Alain Thetard, Thint's former chief executive in South Africa.
According to the state, a diary entry shows that a meeting took place between Thetard, Zuma and Schabir Shaik to discuss a bribe to Zuma from Thint.
