It's that period of excesses again. And no one can convincingly explain why the festive season is characterised by an array of excesses.

Inevitably consumers will soon be embarking on a flurry of shopping activity in what is famously known as the Christmas rush.

Blame it squarely on the festive mood, which will prompt consumers to spontaneous bouts of drinking and eating binges that will drain many pockets, if not overwork the liver - talk about "liver pools".
