Lina Killian's body was found in long grass near a shopping centre in Duncanville, a suburb of Vereeniging in Gauteng, by a builder who had been putting the final touches to her garden flat.
Her daughter, Belinda Minnie, 25, said the builder became suspicious when he saw Killian's crutches on the road. He went to look for her.
Minnie was called to the scene and found her mother lying on her back. Her face and head were a "bloody pulp".
The newspaper said her legs and clothes were covered in blood.
It is believed that Killian was attacked on her way to the nearby shopping centre.
