The third edition of the celebrated Manthatisi Football Development Tournament will take place in Fouriesburg in Free State on December 16 and 17.

Felicia Ntisa, tournament organiser, said as usual four top local clubs will take part in the yearly tournament.

She said the clubs are Papillon, Juventus, Real Madrid and Eleven Experience. Defending champions Golden Eagles did not qualify this time round.

"The tournament caters for clubs campaigning in the Fouriesburg Promotional Soccer League. The top four finishers are automatic qualifiers," said Ntisa.

"It has helped to improve the standard of development soccer in the area because all the local clubs would like to qualify.

"We are excited with the support we have been getting from the Free State community, the plan is to make it one of the biggest development competitions around.

"What makes us happy is that we have four players from this tournament who have been signed by Bloemfontein Celtic and Free State Stars.

The youngsters use the tournament to market themselves because top coaches like Styles Phumo, Serame Letsoaka and Steve Komphela always attend."

Ntisa started the tournament three years ago in recognition of the job her grandmother, Manthatisi Sefele, did for the community of Fouriesburg.

"We appeal to development coaches of the Castle Premiership and Mvela Golden League clubs to attend, talent will be on display," said Ntisa.

The winners will pocket R1 200 and gold medals and losers R800 and silver medals. Teams finishing third will get bronze medals and R500, and the team finishing last will get R300.
