Some still resent new SA

As South Africans we have embraced the present and tried to forget about the past. I am referring to the oppression that was endured by Africans in the quest to enjoy a non-racial and democratic country.

As South Africans we have embraced the present and tried to forget about the past. I am referring to the oppression that was endured by Africans in the quest to enjoy a non-racial and democratic country.

I am also referring to the non-participation of the majority in public discourse to shape our future.

We are gradually moving on with transformation, even in the Springbok national team. I appreciate the development and fielding of young South Africans of all races in international tournaments.

But I noted with dismay and embarrassment that upon the arrival of the Springboks at the OR Tambo airport a few whites were flying the old flag. They have not embraced the new South Africa.

I think the Minister of Sport and Recreation should take serious action against those people. I suggest that as South Africa we need to pass a law that prohibits past flags and other promotional materials that undermine our hard-won democracy.

There are still a few individuals who are trapped in the past and are too blind to see the bright future.

Political leaders of such individuals should take responsibility for such behaviour in front of the nation and international community.

It is unfortunate that a few individuals do not want to come to terms with the fact that South Africa has changed.
